Michael's Artistic Weight Belt

Michael Lehemu is a TingaTinga artist from Tanzania and a member of American Health Club. He is one of the finest painter of TingaTinga, the Tanzanian paintwork that is well known and recognized in Europe. Michael is actively participating exhibition and competitions throughout Japan and also loves to work out at American Health Club. Today, Michael showed us his new belt with TingaTinga. Its so nice and an example of his fine work. Take a look and enjoy the part of Michael's own world.

The36th American Health Bodybuilding Contest

This year's show was held on Sunday, 5th Aug. at Himeji Bunka Centre.
Thanks to the full attendance audiences and great performance from competitors and gueast performers, Toru shoji, Yoshiko Ando and David Hughes. Good luck and all the best to David as he will compete in the North American Championships in the end of August at Cleveland.

Upon the show, American Health Club sold the show booklet for charity. The total sales counts to JPY39.835 and the money goes to Paaralang Pantao, the volunteer school for street children in Payatas, Quezon City, Philippines.

Visitors From Philippines

On 8th April, 2007, We are doing some maintenance for carpark of American Health Club. It wasbeautiful fine, warm Sunday and many people ware passing by the road in front ofthe Gym. As we continue the work, a party of 6 girls came to us. having some chats with them, they told us that they are from Philippines. We told them about our bodybuilding show that raising some charities to the Volunteer school in Quezon, Philippines. They are all so cheerful and curious about our gym. We took some photos with them and we would like to put them on this page so that the girls' family can see the picture. May help their families to know that they are doing alright and in good health here in Japan.

Greeting Cards from Joe Palumbo and family

Joe Palumbo, a SWAT in N.Y. and IFBB pro, and his family sent us Christmas cards. Joe gave us photos in SWAT outfit and messages for our family and gym members.
Mary, Joe's 12y.o. daughter sent us big smile Santa Claus. and 3y.o.Gianna gave us pictures of Palumbo family and painting titled "Spring",which is filled up with flowers and greens. Thank you everyone and Merry Christmas!!

The35th american Health Bodybuilding Contest

The 35th annual show was held at Himeji Bunka Centre on 29th July, 2006.This year's winner for Mr. American Health title was James Lowe. James, an English tutor in Takino city, appeared in much better shape and condition than last year and won the title by beating Akifumi Takemoto, who was ranked better than Lowe last year. The oldest contestant was 75years old Yoshitaka Nitta who won the Super Grand Masters title. For the full results, see the AHC show page.
The crowd gone wild when guest posers appeared on the stage. Starts from Toru Shoji. Toru(62) is one of the oldest member of American Health Club and winner of 1998 Muscle Beach Venice Contest.
The next stage was Asian Masters Champion Huang A Wen and his wife Mai Phuong. Mai Phuong dressed with Pearl white AODAI, the traditional Vietnamese dress, led A Wen into the center of stage and Mr. Huang's routine made the crowds even louder.
The last stage was performed by Luke Wood, IFBB pro. This was the second time Luke comes to Himeji since 2005.
An Australian giant of 120kg weight was as shaped as competition condition, as usual, and crowds were just shocked and then excited. Luke even gave people a surprise when he let Hide Yamagishi, one of the most famous and popular bodybuilder in Japan, stand on the stage with him. The 34th American Health Bodybuilding Contest was held on 3rd July, 2005 at Himeji bunka Centre.
The show was filled up with over 600 crowds of bodybuilding fans and competitors' friends/family.

At last! Luke is in Himeji!!

After 12hours of flight from L.A. and 2hours drive from Kansai airport, Luke Wood arrived Himeji last night. Luke is to be guest- posing for our 34th show on 3rd, July, 2005 at Himeji Bunka Centre. He is ready and is tip top condition after finishing 7th place at New York Pro Show at the end of May.The very next day after his arrival in Japan, He started his work out and serious for the show. Brand New Gym Opens in SAGA!

9th May 2005 was the special day for people of Saga, A new gym "Training Station" opened.
The gym is in the centre of Saga city and close to public transport and shops.
Training Station is equipped with American Health Club's equipments.

The18th Japan Pottery Works Competition/Exhibition

Satoko Nishikawa's work is at exhibition in Daimaru Museum Tokyo from 12th May to 24th May. The exhibition then moves to Osaka Daimaru Museun from 1st June to 6th June.

It exhibits the award winning and judges' selected works from the 18th Japan Pottery Works Competition. The Royal family prince Katsuranomiya attended and conglaturated artists at the award presentation celemony.

Testimonial from the Minister of Justice presented to our member

Our gym member Mr. Kitahara has been presented the testimonial from Minister of Justice.
Mr.Kitahara, a resident priest of temple in central Himeji, has been having busy life as a volunteer Judo trainer and a member of probation officer appointed by Ministry of Justice.
The testimonial was presented in recognition of his 18years of meritorious service as probation officer.

Rodney goes to Mr. Olympia!

Rodney St Cloud, our 2002 guest poser has finished 2nd in the Hungarian Grand Prix held 7〜9th June and qualified for 2003 Mr. Olympia.
We received an email from Rodney this morning. Rodney, who is also a FDNY fire fighter, has been competing some of the pro contest and finished 10th in the Night Of Champions held last month. We wish he will be giving his best performance on the stage of the Mr. Olympia this autumn.(6/11)

Won 2nd prize in Kyoto Art Exhibition
Satoko Nishikawa, daughter of Minoru Nishikawa, has successfully won 2nd prize in The Kyoto Art Exhibition. The exhibition has over 70 years of history and acknowledged as a gateway to success amongst those young artists. Satoko is learning pottery from her master, whose brothers are also being successful in their own field of art, in Kyoto after meeting him while she was a college student. After graduation she moved near the master's house and start learning and helping his work and business.
The work is 65cm high ceramic pot titled "feel the breeze" . The decision was made unanimously among judges.The Exhibition is held at Kyoto municipal art gallery, 3rd to 19th June, 2003

For 2003 season in Bodybuilding games, 10 athletes enrolled themselves. On 31st May, Minoru Nishikawa visited Mr. Yoichi Tsugiya, a president of JBBF Hyogo branch, to hand in their enrollment sheet. Mr. Paul Roemuss, who is enjoying his holiday in Himeji very much, came along and received a warm welcome from Mr. Tsugiya as seen in picture on the left. Paul was so pleased and offering him to visit him whenever he travel Gold Coast, Australia.

10 athletes will be competing in Mr. Hyogo, Mr. Kansai ect etc.

Father of the Bodybuilding Champion Stays with us 2003/5/23
Mr. Paul Roemuss, a father of former Queensland champion Peter Roemuss, is staying with us in Himeji. Paul has started his "Round the world" trip after departing Australia on May 17th. He will spend 3 weeks of his 4 months long trip here in Himeji and frying to Germany, USA, Canada, Hawaii etc. and back to Gold Coast, Queensland in mid September. We know each other over 14 years and had his son Peter for our contest's guest poser years ago. Also, Paul and his family are Masayuki's "second family" in Australia since 1993.

Trip to USA and 2002 Mr. Olympia
This year's visit to the U.S. was busy one. First of all, I went to Portland meeting my Old Chamorro friend's nephew and bought building materials for our gym in Japan. He is a superviser of building company and gave me a great help and advice on my choice.
Then I moved acress the continent to New York. the purpose of visitting N.Y. is to meet Rodney St Cloud, an IFBB pro/F.D.N.Y. fire fighter and Joe Palumbo, also an IFBB pro and N.Y.P.D.SWAT. Rodney is guest poser of ths year's American Health Bodybuilding contest. Palumbo has just made his 9th place on 2002 Masters Olympia.
Then just before the Mr. Olympia, I did fly back to west coast , Las Vegas. However, I could not be the spot of Olympia finals due to the must have done job in Sedona, AZ. In Sedona, I met John Dumas, a native American flute and Australian Didjeridoo player.
He also does the shamanic healing therapy. I met him because American Health Club is coordinating to invite John to Japan for live consert.

After coming back to Las Vegas, I met many friends in bodybuilding industry including competitors and got the result paper from one of them.

Tetua is a founder and president of Tahitian dance production named Tamaeva Alii, Inc., training dancers and producing Tahitian shows at Hotels in Las Vegas. Minoru Nishikawa and American Health Club has appointed to introduce Tahitian dance and Tamaeva Alii, Inc. to Japan.

2002 Japan Bodybuilding Championships
At Mr. & Ms. Japan Championships held on 13th October in Osaka, Our gym members Setsuo Ishikawa(46) and Fusami Tani(71) made entry. Ishikawa competed in Masters 40 class and Tani did so in Masters 65+ class.
Although did not make their finals, they performed well and enjoyed their first national title competiton.

At 2002 American Health Bodybuilding contest, we sold 200+copies of program booklet. Sales counted JPY52,184 and American Health Club added about JPY10,000. We donated JPY63,000 to Ms. Letty Reyes. a volunteer doctor who runs a school "Paaralang Pantao" for scavenger kids in Payatas, Philippines.
We receieved Email with thanks and invitation to Philippines from Letty on 26th Aug.

Aaron is back!

On 17th Aug.We received a mail from Aaron "Batman" Baker. Aaron has visited HIMEJI 3times in the past and guest posed for American Health Bodybuilding Contest.
Aaron once retired from pro-Bodybuilding and changed his code to pro wrestling for couple of years.
Although he was away from bodybuilding, he kept his work out and now he thought it is time to answer the voice of his fans including Minoru Nishikawa, american Health Club to come back to Bodybuilding field.
He seems he is confident with his shape as he told me in the mail that he has "remained in good shape".
